Sunny Day Dreaming
There’s nothing better on perpetually rainy weeks than to post some good ol’ sunny day photos. I never posted these a while back but they are from the Bro Futurists‘ “excursion” through Long Beach complete with boat, Jesus, painting and bicycles. And what’s better than a sunny day and a plastic Jesus? Free ice cream….The Ice Cream Man was there as well to give out ice cream.
Volcom Skate Night
Goodnight Hollywood Blvd.
Hollywood is never as glamorous as you imagine, and every time I spend time there I come away feeling more gritty than glitzy. This is not necessarily a bad thing though and I was reminded of this as I walkd down a rain laden Hollywood Blvd alone. In between the seemingly endless novelty shops and absurd lingerie “boutiques” I found theĀ Los Angels Contemporary Exhibition. It is easy to miss but I was able to view a great video installment.
Long live Beatnik!
The Christmas lights strung across the ceiling of the garage casted a warm glow on the room of onlookers for Beatnik XIV this past Saturday. There was plenty of wine and poetry to go around along with musical numbers, comedy bits, and memoirs. I was too busy socializing with great people to get more photos, but here are a couple of the stage, complete with surfboard and bike racks. My personal favorite was Jon’s rendition of Louis Prima’s “Pennies from Heaven.”
Surf Check
They say to wait seventy two hours after a rain to surf….well there hasn’t been waves, so that rule got modified to about seventy two minutes when we heard there was something. From the smile on Chris’ face you can tell it was worth it. We loaded up his Land Cruiser (that runs on prayers) and caught a little early morning session in between storms.
