If I didn’t tell you, you wouldn’t know that we were in the middle of Costa Mesa.

Wave Sliding in San O

Posted by On February - 23 - 2009

There is nothing better than a Saturday at San Onofre…especially when it is chest high and glassy. Who cares if the water is freezing and the sun never comes out.

Textures of the Middle East

No, this title is not metaphorical language….these really are just textures…of the Middle East. Enjoy.

Georgia On My Mind

Posted by On February - 18 - 2009
Dear old southland with his dreamy songs
Takes me back there where I belong
How I'd love to be in my mammy's arms
When it's sleepy time way down south

The weeks seem to get busier by the day and the days seem to get busier
by the minute. These are some photos from my home state of Georgia.

Sunny Day Dreaming

Posted by On February - 18 - 2009

There’s nothing better on perpetually rainy weeks than to post some good ol’ sunny day photos. I never posted these a while back but they are from the Bro Futurists‘ “excursion” through Long Beach complete with boat, Jesus, painting and bicycles. And what’s better than a sunny day and a plastic Jesus? Free ice cream….The Ice Cream Man was there as well to give out ice cream.

Volcom Skate Night

Posted by On February - 16 - 2009

About once a month Volcom, in conjunction with MIKA, opens up their private skate park to the kids of Costa Mesa as a youth outreach. These are some photos from the last couple nights. I usually stick to injuring myself in the bowl.

Goodnight Hollywood Blvd.

Posted by On February - 12 - 2009

Hollywood is never as glamorous as you imagine, and every time I spend time there I come away feeling more gritty than glitzy. This is not necessarily a bad thing though and I was reminded of this as I walkd down a rain laden Hollywood Blvd alone. In between the seemingly endless novelty shops and absurd lingerie “boutiques” I found theĀ  Los Angels Contemporary Exhibition. It is easy to miss but I was able to view a great video installment.

Long live Beatnik!

Posted by On February - 10 - 2009

The Christmas lights strung across the ceiling of the garage casted a warm glow on the room of onlookers for Beatnik XIV this past Saturday. There was plenty of wine and poetry to go around along with musical numbers, comedy bits, and memoirs. I was too busy socializing with great people to get more photos, but here are a couple of the stage, complete with surfboard and bike racks. My personal favorite was Jon’s rendition of Louis Prima’s “Pennies from Heaven.”

Surf Check

Posted by On February - 10 - 2009

They say to wait seventy two hours after a rain to surf….well there hasn’t been waves, so that rule got modified to about seventy two minutes when we heard there was something. From the smile on Chris’ face you can tell it was worth it. We loaded up his Land Cruiser (that runs on prayers) and caught a little early morning session in between storms.

Some more photos from W. Palm Beach…

Here is some more photos from West Palm Beach, Florida: Inter coastal Waterway and an abandoned building…I love the contrast of textures between the run down building and the perfectly manicured city of West Palm Beach.
